Intuitive Horse

Meet the herd

New Coghurst is home to our twelve horses and two donkeys, who live on the land together as one semi-wild herd all year round. Emma’s vision to rewild the herd is what initially brought us to New Coghurst, in search of more grazing space. So, our rewilding journey started with the horses and then expanded and evolved into our mission to rewild the land and ourselves along with it. The herd has a mutualistic role to play in the larger rewilding project at New Coghurst, as our main conservation grazers.

The herd remains central to identity and our work at New Coghurst, where we are reframing and reimagining the relationship between horses and humans. Our horses aren't ridden or stabled. Instead, we respect their autonomy as complex individuals and recognise the vast potential in the equine-human relationship for profound learning and healing. We invite you to come and explore how the herd can guide you on your own personal growth journey. â€‹â€‹

EAPD (Equine Assisted Personal Development)

Our Intuitive Horse sessions and retreats provide you with the opportunity to come and spend time with the herd out in their natural habitat. By mindfully sharing space with the herd we can start to perceive and understand the behaviours and communication styles of the horses and in doing so, gain deeper insights into our own emotional landscapes and ways of moving in the world. Here is an opportunity to step out of the busy human world, attuning instead to the herd and nature’s rhythms and to observe how our nervous systems respond. We invite you to discover what it truly means to be present with self and the environment and work with you to integrate this learning into your everyday life.

Intuitive Horse sessions are available to book as 1:1 experiences, guided by Emma. We also offer a series of retreats which allow for more time with the herd and a deeper immersive experience. Bespoke retreats are also available to book, for private groups.

Following the Herd's Lead

Available as half day, 1-day or 2-day retreat

We will spend time alongside the herd, journeying inwards and accessing reflective states of being. We will practice using mindfulness techniques to quieten our minds and anchor ourselves in the present moment. As we follow the herd and attune to their pace of life, we will work to shed the layers of stress we are holding onto so that we can meet the herd in their world.

The Retreat offers the potential for

  • Learning about horses and the natural world

  • Learning how to relax and quieten the mind

  • Learning how to 'be' at a slower pace

  • Learning how to access a more embodied state of being

  • Learning mindfulness tools and how to integrate them into your daily way of life

  • Learning how to observe your mental patterns and how this can be helpful when it comes to managing the mind, emotions and behaviour states
